Description

Syngonium Pink Mutation is a popular tropical aroid that captivates with its stunning pink-variegated arrow-shaped leaves. Not only does this plant add vibrant colour to any indoor space, but it also brings life and texture through its climbing or trailing growth habit. Therefore, it suits pots, hanging baskets, or trellises perfectly.

Growing Conditions

Firstly, Syngonium Pink Mutation thrives in bright, indirect light, which helps maintain its brilliant pink hues. However, avoid exposing it to direct sunlight as this can quickly scorch the delicate foliage. The plant requires an aerated, well-draining potting mix. Ideally, use a blend of peat or coco coir with perlite and orchid bark. Additionally, incorporating up to 10% worm castings enriches the soil and supports vigorous growth.

Temperature and Humidity

This tropical species prefers temperatures ranging from 18°C to 28°C and benefits greatly from humidity levels above 60%. To maintain optimal moisture, mist the plant regularly or place it near a pebble tray filled with water. Meanwhile, protect the plant from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C, as these can cause stress and damage.

Feeding and Maintenance

Feed the Syngonium Pink Mutation with a balanced, diluted liquid fertiliser every 4 to 6 weeks during its active growing months. Regular pruning encourages a bushier, fuller appearance by removing old or damaged leaves. Moreover, trimming helps maintain the plant’s size and shape in confined indoor spaces.

Propagation

Regarding propagation, the Syngonium Pink Mutation is best propagated through stem cuttings that have aerial roots. Simply cut 10-15 cm sections below a node and remove the lower leaves. Then, root the cuttings in water or moist soil. Typically, roots develop within 3-4 weeks, at which point the new plants can be potted.

Pest and Disease Control

While generally hardy, this plant can attract pests such as aphids, spider mites, and mealybugs. In such cases, treat infestations with Neem oil or Efekto Garden Gun insecticide promptly. Furthermore, avoid overwatering to reduce the risk of root rot and fungal infections. If any fungal issues arise, applying Efekto Kumulus WG fungicide early will help protect the plant.

Water Preferences

Syngonium Pink Mutation tolerates borehole water with a pH near 5.7; however, it thrives best when watered with rain or distilled water to prevent mineral buildup. Maintaining a consistent moisture level while avoiding saturation promotes healthy roots and vibrant foliage.
